ELEC4122 Students: ‘How to Teach Ethics to Engineers’[]

Initial Survey[]

Some of you may have noticed a survey entitled ‘How to teach ethics to engineers?’ available through WebCT Vista. We all hate surveys however the results of this survey form the experimental results for my final year undergraduate thesis (fortunately or unfortunately).

All that’s required is for you to take the brief on-line evaluation on two occasions, once at the beginning and again at the end of the semester. Hopefully you can find some time between your own thesis, assignments and visits to the Unibar to complete the survey.

For those still reading, the study is concerned with engineering ethics. Ethics is part of your engineering program to ensure that as a engineering graduate of UNSW you are able to able to apply high ethical standards in your professional practice, and to meet the accreditation requirements of the professional engineering bodies. This study aims to improve the way engineering ethics is taught at UNSW.

I would really appreciate your participation in the study because without your surveys I have no thesis.....and hence, no degree :(

Thanks!!!

Final Survey[]

This is a friendly reminder to ELEC4122 students that the second survey for ‘ethics teaching survey’ will be available during weeks 9 and 10 via WebCT vista. There are prizes available for participation. On that note you can still take the second survey if you forgot the first one, no dramas.

To recap, the study is entitled, “how to teach ethics to engineers”. It aims to improve the way engineering ethics is taught at UNSW. The basic idea of the experiment is a before and after test to assess student ethical learning as a result of taking ELEC4122.

I would really appreciate your participation in the study because without your surveys I have no thesis.....and hence, no degree :(

Thanks!!!
